True Consecration
A woman once asked a preacher,
“Will
you please tell me what true consecration is?”
Holding out a blank sheet of paper, the preacher replied, “True
consecration is signing your name at the bottom of the blank sheet, and letting
God fill in the rest as He wills.”
This really gets to the heart of what true consecration is all
about. All too often, many are unwilling to assume this attitude. Many seem to
want to
“write
their own ticket” in life - then beg God to
sign it. Instead of seeking earnestly to fashion their lives after God’s way
- many seek to fashion God’s way after their
lives. Beloved, that is backward thinking. ( Remember …
James 4: 3
)
One who is truly consecrated to the Lord will yield unreservedly to
God. The truly consecrated will reserve nothing for self. He will desire not
only to be found living in Christ, but also to have Christ living in him. The
apostle Paul declared,
“I
have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ
living in me: and that life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the
faith which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.”
( Gal. 2:20
) Am I , are you truly consecrated to the
Lord? Selected
