Good Medicine
Have you had a good laugh today? You need it. Proverbs 17:22 says,
“A merry
heart does good, like a medicine.”
When you feel life is getting you down, find something to laugh
about. God’s word (and science) says it’s therapeutic. It’s sure
cheaper than prescription drugs. I read recently of an accountant
in Germany that was arrested and brought to court because of
constant complaints of joggers who were disturbed on their runs by
his daily laughter. He told the court that he went to the woods
every day to laugh, and thus relieve his stress. There can be no
doubt that a joyful person will be blessed with better health—both
physical and mental. Research has shown regular laughter to speed
the healing of the ill and to add years to one’s lifespan.
On a still higher
level, the Christian who finds joy in his relationship with God is
abundantly blessed. Paul urged, “Rejoice
in the Lord always, and again I say, Rejoice.”
( Phil. 4:4 ) The joy of salvation is un-
equaled. –
